Owning the Feminine Shadow Workshop with Jyoti Wind
What is the shadow and how does it show up in our lives? In this lecture ( Part 1) we explore how the shadow lives in us, how other people can see our blind side, and how we can claim it.
Part 2 is experiential. We will explore our inner worlds to the place of the shadow through a guided journey experience. (No journey experience needed)
Based on the myth of Inanna, the Sumerian Goddess of Heaven and Earth, we will journey into the depths of our own unclaimed parts and emerge whole.
We will invoke Inanna’s blessing and protection, celebrating the merging of the Dark and the Light.
Invocation to Inanna
My Lady looks in sweet wonder from heaven.
The people of Sumer parade before the Holy Inanna.
Inanna, the Lady who ascends into the Heavens, is radiant.
I sing your praises, holy Inanna.
The Lady who ascends into the Heavens is radiant on the horizon.
I ask for your blessing.
From The Moon Under Her Feet by Clystra Kinstler
Love is stronger than Death.
Inanna, the glorious Queen of Heaven, set forth on her journey to the Netherworld. She chose to abandon Heaven and Earth in search of wisdom, for she knew nothing of the secret place, nor of the dark, forbidden world within herself.
Inanna gained wisdom in the Underworld. She faced and accepted her ‘sister, Erishkegal’, her own hidden unrecognized self. She could never deny that other self now, never really leave her behind again.
“Fear nothing, even the Dark Goddess, for she is but the self you have not known. Do not fail to love and forgive her with your whole heart, and she will be able to set you free.”
About Ritual Workshops
When we create or engage in a ritual, we are alerting the unconscious to pay attention. Something is purposely happening.
As we light candles, cleanse ourselves with water, set objects and pictures on an altar, we can elicit the co-operation of the unconscious. This part of us does not speak in language, but in images, like in our dreams. So when we set up an altar of certain objects, the unconscious might realize, this is the next step, and we can help!
These ritual workshops are a way to speak to the unconscious, ask for its support and set something in motion, that might take a month or a year to manifest. In other cases, the ritual becomes the vehicle for true transformation in the moment.
For each of these ritual workshops, a simple altar is suggested. A candle to light as you begin the ritual, a small bowl of water. Fire and water are symbols of alchemical change. A sacred object that is important to you…a stone, a photo, etc. will bring your personal element into the mix.
